University of Southern California

Located in Los Angeles, a global center for arts, technology and international trade, the University of Southern California is one of the world’s leading private research universities. The University required a new campus student union facility. Prior to beginning a major renovation program, the University had the challenge of supplying a full service dining area on campus.  The strict building codes of Los Angeles and the need for a semi-permanent structure necessitated comprehensive research and planning.

Kitchens To Go, along with strategic alliance partners Whitley Manufacturing and Sprung Instant Structures, provided a successful solution to meet kitchen, production and dining needs of the University’s Student Union.  In three and one half months, the team transformed a parking lot into a turn-key, high quality student dining facility.

The project was completed in the university’s time frame and within its budget constraints.

The dining and social gathering spot complex included:

  • A food court area featuring eight food concepts: Wolfgang Puck Express, Carl’s Jr. Zao Noodle Bar, Submarina, California Subs, Red Mango, Baja Fresh, Traditions
  • Coffee Bar brewing Starbucks
  • A convenience store
  • ATM’s
  • Five plasma screens, an outstanding sound system and wireless internet
